Since then the unit has got busier and busier, both on the water and in the radio room. The unit has operated a 24hour radio service for over 10 years and bought its second smaller complimentary rescue vessel in 2002.
The unit continues to operate a two vessel fleet, both of which have been replaced since the original ones. The unit is able to call upon the services of around 70 volunteers, and has close working relationships with the other marine industry groups in the Tauranga area.
